Although Rizvi’s IPL debut against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) didn’t yield immediate results, his subsequent performance against Gujarat Titans (GT) showcased his potential.
Entering the crease at No. 6, Rizvi wasted no time in announcing his arrival, dispatching GT’s premier spinner Rashid Khan for two consecutive sixes in his very first over. Despite his brief innings of 14 runs from six deliveries, Rizvi left a lasting impression. “Dhoni bhai advised me to simply stick to my natural game and remain composed. He emphasized that the skills remain the same, albeit with a slightly altered mindset. By playing according to the situation without succumbing to pressure, nervousness can be mitigated,” shared Sameer Rizvi in a video posted by IPL’s official X handle.

Expressing his delight at joining CSK, Rizvi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to interact with MS Dhoni, a dream come true for the Meerut-born cricketer. He acknowledged that playing alongside Dhoni was an unexpected but cherished experience, underscoring his eagerness to absorb as much knowledge as possible during his tenure with CSK.
