Rizvi’s entry into IPL cricket was nothing short of spectacular, as he fulfilled his promise to his brother by smashing a boundary off the first ball he faced from Rashid Khan, dispatching it over square leg for a majestic six. His outstanding performance in the 19th over concluded with yet another powerful maximum.

Sabool Rizvi, Sameer’s brother, shared the exciting moment on Instagram, revealing Sameer’s pre-match determination to hit a six off his first IPL delivery. “He had said that he would hit six off the very first delivery,” Sabool wrote, reflecting on Sameer’s remarkable achievement.

Securing a lucrative IPL contract worth Rs 8.4 crore at the auction, Sameer Rizvi attracted significant attention, with both Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans vying for his services. Known for his destructive batting in the UPT20, Rizvi displayed exceptional form, accumulating 455 runs in nine innings, including two centuries and numerous sixes for his team, Kanpur Superstars.

 

Rizvi’s exceptional talent extends beyond T20 cricket, as demonstrated in the CK Nayudu Trophy quarter-finals, where he amassed an impressive 312 runs off just 266 deliveries, embellished with 33 boundaries and 12 sixes. With previous appearances for India at the Under-19 level and a Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 16 in 2020, Rizvi has established himself as a promising young talent.

Contributing to Chennai Super Kings’ formidable total of 206/6 against Gujarat Titans, Rizvi’s cameo was instrumental in setting up the victory. Shivam Dube’s explosive innings of 51 runs off 23 balls further bolstered CSK’s dominance.

During the run chase, Gujarat Titans struggled to maintain momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals and ultimately posting 143 runs in their allotted 20 overs. CSK’s bowling trio of Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman, and Tushar Deshpande each claimed two wickets, securing a convincing win for the defending champions.
