Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and decided to bat first against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Virat Kohli was seen struggling to dictate the terms and was eventually dismissed cheaply on 18 runs in 19 balls and struck 1 four. Glenn Maxwell was quite aggressive in his approach. Surprisingly, Glenn Maxwell whacked Ravichandran Ashwin for a huge six on the last ball of the 8th over.
Earlier, Virat and Faf made sure that they don’t play a string of dot balls and were quite keen on rotating the strike. There were some nervous moments for the duo but somehow, they stitched an invaluable opening partnership of 50 runs in 7 overs as the track was assisting the slower bowlers.

It seemed as if the RR had come well prepared, Sanju Samson brought the shrewd leg spinners Adam Zampa and Yuzvendra Chahal into the powerplay overs as Virat Kohli failed to do much against the spinners. Faf & Maxwell slowly started rebuilding the innings as Maxwell took the role of aggressor. Faf du Plessis played a fine knock of 55 runs in 44 balls and struck 3 fours and 2 sixes.
All of a sudden in the 16th over Adam Zampa got rid of Mahipal Lormor & Dinesh Karthik and all of a sudden RCB were reduced to 120-4 in 15.3 overs. At the end of 17 overs, RCB’s score was 135-4. Sandeep Sharma was bowling the 18th over, on the 3rd delivery Maxwell attempted a reverse sweep shot but missed it completely as Sandeep Sharma bowled a sensational yorker and thrashed his stumps.
