The cricketing fraternity is eagerly waiting for the upcoming cracker of the Test Series between India and Australia scheduled to be commencing on 9th February. The former skipper Virat Kohli would be keen to make a mark against the Aussies as in the last 3 Series he hasn’t performed according to his credentials.

Australia would sense a golden opportunity to end the drought of 19 years where Aussies had won the Test Series in India way back in 2004. This time, the visitors have got a lot of match-winners present on the side unlike in 2013 & 2017 when their middle order was fragile. Former Indian batting coach, Sanjay Bangar was having an interaction with Star Sports and was asked about Virat Kohli’s woes against Nathan Lyon.

Describing the same, Sanjay Bangar said, “Virat Kohli does not do two things due to which he faces a lot of difficulties against Nathan Lyon. One, he does not believe much in stepping out, he plays more from the crease and then he does not play the sweep as well.”

He further added, “So where will he score runs against Nathan Lyon? So, he will have to change his approach slightly. We have already seen in this season that he has used his feet slightly more, although he might have done it in the shorter format. He will have to do that.”

Sanjay Bangar reckoned that the 34-year-old will be up for it in the upcoming series and will raise his game since he loves to play against formidable opponents.

Bagar elaborated, “He loves to have that banter against the Australian players and he raises his game, and Test cricket is a format that brings the best out of Virat Kohli as well. Yes, the last two-and-a-half years haven’t been as productive by his standards. So he would want to continue the freshness of approach that he has enjoyed in the T20 and ODI formats and now he would look to transform that into Test cricket as well.”
