Scenarios For The Indian Team To Qualify To The Semi-finals

Team India has managed to win both their warm-up games ahead of the T20 World Cup 2021 against England and Australia. It gave the feeling to the fans that the Indians are the favorites for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. But when the tournament began, India failed to continue the momentum as they have suffered losses in both their lose the plot not once but twice.

The Indian team suffered a loss against Pakistan in their opening fixture at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Pakistan didn’t let the men in blue take control of the game as they won by 10 wickets. Indian players had another opportunity to revive themselves after their defeat to the men in green.

However, they squandered yet another opportunity after losing the game against New Zealand in the same venue. Now with a couple of defeats in a row, Team India is almost out of contention for the semi-finals. However, they can still qualify for the semi-finals if things go in India’s favor. They need to win the remaining three matches. Apart from that, other results should go in their favor.

Team India will be locking horns with Afghanistan in their next game. Afghanistan has played three games and has won two games. They beat Scotland and Namibia so far in the competition. On the other hand, India has lost both their opening games. The Men in Blue will play against Afghanistan on November 3 at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

It is unlikely that New Zealand would lose to both Scotland and Nambia. If this happens, the men in blue will reach the semi-finals with 6 points alongside their rivals Pakistan. On the other hand, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Namibia will be restricted at 4 points apiece.

This route for India’s qualification is more likely to happen,  but Team India will hope that Afghanistan would beat New Zealand to ruin their qualification plans. This means that Afghanistan, New Zealand, and Team India will have three wins each. Team India will have a chance to qualify if they managed to win their remaining games with huge margins and get a better Net Run Rate as compared to the other teams.
