On Thursday, Indian cricketer Shahbaz Nadeem achieves the best ever bowling record in the List A cricket history during a Vijay Hazare Trophy match between Rajasthan and Jharkhand at Chennai. The 29-year-old left-arm spinner picked 8 wickets by conceding just 10 runs in his 10-over quota as his bowling figure was 10-4-10-8.
It was the Elite Group C match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy between Rajasthan and Jharkhand at Chennai, where the Jharkhand left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem achieved that record. He dismissed first eight opposition batsmen and was very close to becoming the first ever 10-wicket haul bowler in the List A cricket history as his last two overs went wicketless.
With this impressive bowling figure, Nadeem breaks the previous List A best bowling record of 8/15 by Delhi left-arm spinner Rahul Sanghvi against Himachal Pradesh in 1997/98. In the ODI history, the best bowling record is 8/19 (third highest in the List A bowling figure records) by the former Sri Lankan left-arm pacer Chaminda Vass (8-3-19-8) against Zimbabwe on December 8, 2001.

Nadeem’s bowling destroyed the Rajasthan batting line-up who were bowled out for just 73 runs in 28.3 overs. Apart from the first three batsmen – the openers Amitkumar Gautam (17) and Ankit Lamba (20) and the no.3 batsman Robin Bist (15) – none of the other Rajasthan batsmen reached the double-digit scores.
Among Nadeem’s eight wickets, five were bowled, two were dismissed through caught out and one was trapped for lbw. Another left-arm spinner Anukul Roy picked up the last two wickets as both the batsmen were bowled.
In reply, Jharkhand lost three wickets before reaching the target in 14.3 overs (76/3). Opener Anand Singh played a 22-run knock while both the unbeaten batsmen Saurabh Tiwary and Sumit Kumar were not out on 19 runs each.
