Bangladesh Test and T20I skipper Shakib Al Hasan is suffering from the finger injury and wants the surgery prior to the 2018 Asia Cup that will be played from September 15 to 28 in UAE. It means that the Bangladesh all-rounder is likely going to miss the Asia Cup tournament.
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is suffering from an injury on his little finger of the left hand. During the final of home ODI tri-series (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe) in last January, Shakib suffered an injury and missed the next Test and T20I home bilateral series against Sri Lanka.

Then he returned in the cricket. But, recently the injury has returned again and Shakib wants to get rid of from it soon.
Talking about the surgery, Shakib said, “The physio will be able to tell what condition my hand is in. We all know that I will have to go through surgery. We are discussing the options for where it would be best to do the surgery. I feel the sooner it takes place the better. I think the surgery should take place because I don’t want to play without being fully fit. So doing the surgery before Asia Cup is normal.”
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan has wished that Shakib to undergo surgery after the Asia Cup as it will take around six weeks to recover.

BCB president told reporters on Thursday, ”Shakib called me [from West Indies] and informed me that he needed operation. The head coach also called me and mentioned that it is necessary because he is not getting the strength that is required for batting. If that is the case, he will go for a six-week break.”
”It is difficult to get such a long break. First we planned whether we can do it in between a series but as that is not the case, he needs to skip a tournament or a series. But we cannot think of playing without him. He can be operated before the Asia Cup or after the Asia Cup or during the series against Zimbabwe.”
After the Asia Cup, Bangladesh will play home bilateral series against Zimbabwe and Nazmul believes it will be better time to undergo surgery. Nazmul said that he will talk with Shakib soon on this matter.

Talking about that BCB president said, ”Today, during our meeting with the coach, he insisted that it [Shakib’s operation] should be completed during the Asia Cup. We suggested that it would be better if we operate him during the series against Zimbabwe as we can also take the opportunity to try out few new faces during that time. I think that will be the best thing to do. The Asia Cup is expected to be tough tournament and during that time if a player of Shakib’s stature doesn’t play, chances are high that the morale of the team might go down.
“I will talk with Shakib today or tomorrow regarding it. But I prefer if it is done at some other time [instead of during Asia Cup].”
