David Warner bid farewell to Test cricket with a poignant gesture from the Pakistan team. Captain Shan Masood presented the retiring opener with a Babar Azam jersey, signed by the entire side, as a token of appreciation for his outstanding contributions to the game. Warner’s illustrious Test career, born on October 27, 1986, spanned 112 matches, amassing 8,786 runs at an impressive average of 44.60, including 26 centuries and 37 half-centuries.
Renowned for his aggressive batting style and exceptional slip fielding, Warner held a strike rate of 70.20 and took 91 catches. In his final Test innings against Pakistan at the SCG, Warner played a spirited knock, scoring 57 and playing a pivotal role in Australia’s 3-0 series victory.
Despite not carrying his bat through the innings, Warner’s farewell innings was marked by a fairytale half-century, celebrated with a muted acknowledgment and embraced by teammate Marnus Labuschagne.

During the post-match ceremony, Captain Masood invited Warner on stage and presented him with the Babar Azam shirt signed by the entire Pakistan team. Masood expressed gratitude for Warner’s contributions to the game and extended best wishes for his future endeavors.

Emotional after the match, Warner described the series win as a dream come true moment. Australia’s 3-0 victory added to their remarkable achievements in the past 18 months, including winning the World Test Championship, the ODI World Cup, and retaining the Ashes in England.
“It’s pretty much a dream come true. You win 3-0, cap off what’s been a great 18 months to 2 years for the Australian cricket team. World Test Championship win, an Ashes series draw, and then the World Cup. To come here and finish 3-0 is an outstanding achievement,” David Warner expressed after the match.
