Punjab Kings’ Shashank Singh brought fireworks to Dharamsala with a blistering knock against Lucknow Super Giants in Sunday’s IPL 2025 fixture. The right-hander, known for his fearless strokeplay, was in sensational touch as he made the most of the short boundaries and LSG’s off-color pace attack.

One moment that lit up the evening came when Shashank timed a delivery from Mayank Yadav to perfection, launching it high and deep over fine leg. The shot not only cleared the ropes but sailed over the stadium roof, leaving the crowd in awe and the bowler stunned. It was a monstrous hit that underlined Shashank’s clean striking ability.

He seemed destined for a well-deserved IPL century, but an ambitious switch-hit attempt off Digvesh Rathi brought his knock to an abrupt end. Falling for 91, just nine short of a memorable hundred, Shashank walked off to a standing ovation after propelling Punjab Kings to a daunting total.

Shashank’s late onslaught, which saw him hammer 33 off just 15 deliveries in the death overs, helped PBKS post what looked like a match-winning score. Overall, Punjab smacked 16 sixes in the innings, 13 of which came off the LSG pacers. Mayank Yadav endured a torrid time, leaking 60 runs in his four overs and getting hit for six maximums.

In response, LSG’s chase got off to a rocky start. Youngster Priyansh Arya was dismissed for just 1 after falling to a clever outswinger from Akash Singh. A solid 78-run stand followed between Prabhsimran and skipper Shreyas Iyer, but Digvesh Rathi broke the momentum by removing Iyer—his first scalp against a Punjab captain this season.
Prabhsimran, though, carried on in punishing fashion, as LSG’s bowlers continued to feed him deliveries in his comfort zone.
