Shivam Dube had faced a challenging phase in competitive cricket, particularly in the Indian Premier League (IPL). During his stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), his performances were not impressive enough to secure him a spot in the subsequent auctions. However, in a surprising turn of events, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) decided to sign him.
This move proved to be a game-changer for Dube, as cricket pundits began to regard him as an evolved cricketer following his exploits with CSK. His improved performance with CSK paved the way for his return to the national team, leading to his selection in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.
Shivam Dube attributes this resurgence to the guidance and support of former CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. He revealed that the legendary Indian cricketer has been instrumental in his comeback, offering valuable advice and unwavering support throughout his time at CSK.

“Mahi Bhai’s role was crucial in my comeback. When a legendary player like him judges you and gives you advice, it means a lot to any player. His positive comments can instantly boost your confidence. His small pieces of advice have significantly improved my cricket,” Shivam Dube shared during an interview with Star Sports.
Despite being an all-rounder, Shivam Dube’s role as a bowler was limited during his tenure with CSK. In the IPL 2024 season, he bowled just one over but managed to take a wicket in that spell, which he considered a significant confidence booster. Reflecting on his limited bowling opportunities, he noted that he was preparing to contribute more as a bowler for the T20 World Cup 2024.
“I bowled just one over in the IPL, but getting a wicket in that over was a big positive for me. It was important for my confidence. I have been working hard in the nets to refine my skills, knowing that I need to be ready when the opportunity arises. Rohit Bhai and Rahul Bhai have encouraged me to express myself as an all-rounder. They have informed me that I could be called upon to bowl 2-3 overs at any time,” he added.
