Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer grabbed attention off the field after his team’s dominant 54-run win over Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2026, thanks to a light-hearted yet unusual moment ahead of the post-match presentation. After leading PBKS to a commanding victory at the New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur, Iyer was seen walking around in slippers before the presentation ceremony.

As per BCCI protocols, players are not allowed to attend post-match presentations in slippers or sleeveless jerseys, with potential fines for violations. Realising this just in time, Iyer borrowed a pair of shoes from a nearby cameraman — a moment that quickly went viral on social media.

On the field, however, it was all business for Punjab Kings. Batting first, they posted a massive 254/7, powered by a sensational 182-run partnership between Priyansh Arya and Cooper Connolly. The duo’s aggressive approach saw them smash 16 sixes, dismantling the LSG bowling attack with ease.

Punjab’s bowlers then backed up the effort with a disciplined performance, ensuring Lucknow Super Giants never found momentum in the chase. The comprehensive win extended PBKS’ unbeaten streak to six matches, firmly placing them at the top of the IPL 2026 points table with 11 points.

Reflecting on the match, Shreyas Iyer was full of praise for his young batters. “It was exceptional,” he said. “Some of the shots were jaw-dropping. To dominate both pace and spin like that takes immense confidence and composure.”

He particularly highlighted how the pair built their innings through the middle overs, maintaining control while keeping the scoreboard ticking.
