The Indian batter Shreyas Iyer is satisfied with his consistent performances which helped India to win the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. Iyer said that being unbeaten in all three T20Is against Sri Lanka was a commendable performance from his end and he will take plenty of positives from this series.
Shreyas Iyer was named as the Player of the Series as he smashed 3 successive unbeaten fifties. He finished the series with a tally of 204. Iyer hit 57 not out from just 28 balls in the opening game, 74 not out in just 44 balls in India’s stunning chase of 184 in the 2nd T20I, and 73 not out from just 45 balls in the finale on Sunday.

During a virtual press conference, as per the quotes in India Today, Shreyas Iyer said, “Firstly, I want to cherish this moment, I have achieved a really good total in this T20I series. I want to relax a bit, give myself time and not think too much beyond. See if you are playing the T20I format, if you bat at top 3, that is a place from where you can pace your innings really well. If you bat down the order, you cannot give yourself time and you have to go from ball one.”
He further elaborated, “Coming not out in all three games is a commendable performance from my side, I am not keeping any expectations, if you see competition in our team, it is immense. I just want to enjoy each and every opportunity. I like to finish off the games and that is my mindset. I cannot talk about cementing my place, competition is so much, you need to be flexible in batting at any position.”

When asked about the healthy competition within the Indian squad, Shreyas Iyer opined that he aims to seize every opportunity he gets to play and maximize it. He acknowledged that now he is used to playing like that and now he doesn’t require any special preparation for that. Every cricketer has its own set of strengths and weaknesses, and Iyer isn’t bothered about people finding him vulnerable to the short ball.
The Indian juggernaut in T20Is continued as they hammered Sri Lanka by 6 wickets in the 3rd T20I in Dharamsala on Sunday and with that win, Indan completed another clean sweep which is their third successive sweep of a T20I series since the T20 World Cup last year.
