Shreyas Iyer may be known for his elegant strokeplay and fearless batting on the field, but even he couldn’t escape the guile of his mother at home. In a heartwarming and humorous clip that’s gone viral, the stylish batter was clean bowled by his mom in the middle of a casual game in their living room.

The delivery was recorded from her point of view, adding to the fun as Iyer’s defense was breached and his middle stump – well, a cushion – was sent flying. The video, shared by Iyer’s current IPL franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS), came with a cheeky caption: “Only time SARPANCH won’t mind getting bowled! 😂♥️” – a nod to the nickname ‘Sarpanch’ given to Iyer by PBKS fans.

On the field, Iyer was sensational for PBKS during IPL 2025. Bought for a whopping ₹26.75 crore, the pressure was high – but the 29-year-old delivered in style, leading the team to their first IPL final since 2014. With 604 runs at a blistering strike rate of 175.07, including six fifties, Iyer silenced critics and thrilled fans.

However, his exclusion from India’s Test squad for the ongoing England tour raised eyebrows. Despite his IPL heroics and consistent form in the domestic season for Mumbai, he didn’t find a place in the 18-member squad. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar clarified that the omission wasn’t about form, but rather the lack of vacancies in the current team setup.
Still, for fans, Iyer remains a favorite – both on the pitch and, clearly, at home too.
