Shreyas Iyer Gets A Perfect Company For His Quarantine In Australia

Delhi Capitals captain and India’s middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer reached Sydney along with his Indian teammates after completion of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in the United Arab Emirates. He led DC to the final of the tournament where they suffered a dominating loss against the Mumbai Indians (MI).

Iyer took to social media on Friday to share a picture of him quarantining in his Sydney hotel room. Captioning the picture, he wrote: “Quarantining in perfect company”.

Iyer completed one of his best seasons as a batsman and skipper as DC had reached their maiden final of the tournament. Shreyas Iyer crossed the 500-run mark for the first time in his IPL career and finished the season at the 4th position in the list of highest run-scorers, as he had amassed 519 runs in 17 matches at an average of 34.60.

This will be India’s first international assignment since the South Africa series at home, which was canceled after the first game in March just before the lockdown in India due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Indian team will be commencing their training while being in quarantine from November 14 in Sydney. The ODI series is scheduled to be commencing on November 28 at the SCG following which a 3-match T20 series will be played. India and Australia will lock horns in the much-anticipated Test series from December 17.

Team India will then come back to Sydney for the final two T20Is on December 6 and 8 respectively. Meanwhile, the Test squad players will play two 4-day tour matches in Sydney before the start of the Test series. Adelaide will host the first Test, which will be a day-night fixture, scheduled to be commencing from December 17 after which captain Virat Kohli will head back home to be with his pregnant wife Anushka Sharma.
