Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer produced a sensational batting display against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2026, highlighted by a stunning one-handed six off South African pacer Lungi Ngidi at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Monday. After DC skipper Axar Patel won the toss and opted to bowl first, Punjab Kings got off to a flying start courtesy of an explosive powerplay.

Shreyas walked in to bat at No. 3 with PBKS already cruising at 78/1 in 6.5 overs and immediately looked in complete control. One of the standout moments of his innings came during the 12th over when Ngidi cleverly bowled a slower cutter that deceived the PBKS captain with a change of pace.

Despite being early into the shot and losing his bottom hand from the bat handle, Shreyas still managed to generate enough power to send the ball soaring over long-off for a remarkable six.

The classy right-hander continued his excellent form and brought up his fifth half-century of IPL 2026 in style. He reached the milestone with another maximum, smashing Madhav Tiwari over deep extra cover after picking up a short delivery perfectly.

Punjab Kings had earlier received an explosive start from opener Priyansh Arya, who attacked Mitchell Starc aggressively in the opening over with two sixes and a boundary. PBKS raced to 51 without loss in just three overs before Delhi Capitals slowly fought their way back into the contest.

Priyansh scored a quickfire 56 off 33 deliveries, while Shreyas Iyer and Cooper Connolly steadied the innings with a crucial 83-run partnership for the third wicket.

Shreyas remained unbeaten on 59 off 36 balls and played a major role in helping Punjab Kings post a strong total of 210/5 in 20 overs. Suryansh Shedge provided the finishing touch with a rapid, unbeaten 21 off just eight deliveries. Punjab Kings entered the contest looking to end a three-match losing streak and strengthen their position in the IPL 2026 points table.
