Shreyas Iyer set the stage on fire in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 clash against Sri Lanka at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The batter came out all guns blazing and took the attack to the Sri Lanka bowlers, hitting some brutal strokes and replying to all the criticism in style. Iyer stole the limelight when he hit a gigantic 106-meter six off Kasun Rajitha in the 36th over.

Shreyas Iyer muscled the pitched-up delivery outside off and in the slot for a big six over the bowler’s head, surpassing Glenn Maxwell to hit the biggest six of the tournament so far.

Iyer had been under the firing line because of his failures against short ball, but he silenced his critics with a majestic innings. He raced away to 30 runs in no time and finished with a well-deserved 88 off 70 balls, including 10 fours and 4 sixes.

Earlier, India lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Skipper Rohit Sharma (4) was dismissed early, but Virat Kohli (88) and Shubman Gill (92) batted magnificently well to add 189 runs for the second wicket and put the team in a dominating position.

Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul continued the momentum after Kohli and Gill’s departure, adding 60 runs for the fourth wicket before Rahul was dismissed for 21. Iyer kept the momentum going and eventually finished with an unbeaten 88, helping India post a mammoth total of 361/7.

Shreyas Iyer’s innings was a perfect example of how to deal with criticism. He came under the scanner for his failures against short ball, but he silenced his critics with a majestic innings. He showed great intent and aggression from the start and hit some incredible shots.
