Shubman Gill had a playful reaction after the Gujarat Titans’ dominant eight-wicket win over the Chennai Super Kings in their IPL 2026 clash on Sunday. Taking to social media after the match, the GT captain posted “Nandri Chennai” while holding a yellow whistle, adding a light-hearted touch to an already impressive victory.

GT chased down CSK’s 158/7 with ease, thanks to a classy knock from Sai Sudharsan, who anchored the innings with a fluent 87 off 46 balls. Gill also played a useful hand with 33, while Jos Buttler stayed unbeaten on 39 to seal the win comfortably. Even with the one-sided result, Gill was quick to point out that his team still had room for improvement.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Gill said he was pleased with the performance, especially in Chennai conditions. However, he felt GT could have finished the innings better. “Very happy to get a win like that in this part of India. Apart from the last four or five overs, it was a complete performance,” Gill said. “If I have to be critical, finishing an innings has been a problem. We need to do better in that.”

Gill also admitted there was some uncertainty at the toss, but the decision to bowl first proved decisive. Kagiso Rabada led the Gujarat attack with superb figures of 3/25 and was named Player of the Match. Gill praised the bowling unit, especially the way they managed the tricky middle overs. He also noted the impact of the pitch and the smart use of resources as GT kept CSK under pressure throughout the innings.

For CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, it was a frustrating night. He admitted the surface was difficult to read and said the ball was holding up for the seamers. Gaikwad also felt his side lost too many wickets at crucial stages and were unable to adapt in time.
