The Gujarat Titans’ 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) ended on a disappointing note with their final league game against Sunrisers Hyderabad being washed out. In the aftermath, GT skipper Shubman Gill posted a heartfelt message that hints at a possible future away from the franchise.
Gill, who took over the captaincy from Hardik Pandya following Pandya’s sensational move back to the Mumbai Indians, faced a challenging season. Despite the high hopes, Gill was unable to replicate the successes of previous years, and for the first time in their history, the Titans missed out on a playoff spot.
Since their inception in 2021, the Gujarat Titans had quickly established themselves as a formidable team in the IPL. They clinched the title in their debut season and finished as runners-up the following year, showcasing their dominance. However, this season saw a significant decline, with the team finishing with just 12 points, a stark contrast to their past performances.

In his Instagram post, Gill reflected on the season and his tenure with the team, suggesting that he might be considering a future away from the Titans. He wrote, “Not the way we hoped it would end, but it’s been a season full of learning and some great memories. I’ve been a part of this beautiful family for three years, and it’s been a journey I will never forget. I want to thank all the fans who supported us and showed us love when times were tough.”
