Since moving from his traditional No. 5 position to No. 6 earlier this year, Rahul has demonstrated his capacity to hold up the innings and offer the ideal finishing flourish when needed. Kotak highlighted Rahul’s versatility, pointing out how his capacity to bat in various positions has made him a valuable asset.

“He is a guy who can open, bat at No. 4 or 5, and now he is dominating at No. 6. The manner in which he’s adapting and seeing what the job requires is quite admirable. He’s accepted the challenge and performing wonderfully well, which is great for the side,” Sitanshu Kotak told a press conference.

Even with a stellar record at No. 5—over 1,000 ODI runs at more than 50—Rahul has transitioned effortlessly into his new role. His 42 not out against Australia in the semi-final was a turning point, taking India to a solid finish and demonstrating his pressure-handling skills in critical situations.
