On Tuesday, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is going to suspend the contract of medium-pacer Shehan Madushanka after he was arrested for possessing heroin. Madushanka’s arrest was the first time a contracted player was reprimanded over a drug charge. He and his friend were arrested on May 23 for possessing heroin.
Describing the same, SLC CEO Ashley de Silva said, “We have not been officially informed on this yet. He is a contracted player. We will take action to suspend his contract if he carries a drug charge.”
The magistrate at Kuliyapitiya in the north-western province ordered him to be remanded till June 2. As for Madushanka, he has so far played an ODI and a couple of T20Is for Sri Lanka. The pacer made his debut in January 2018 but managed to play only three matches all against Bangladesh, due to injury concerns.
