Former Indian Indian opener, Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has now become a politician has been asked to leave The Kapil Sharma Show following his comments on the Pulwama terror attack. Some of the recent reports have suggested that he will be replaced by Archana Puran Singh on the show.
Describing the issue, one of the sources of the Indian Express said, “His remarks have not been taken kindly by most. Also, the channel and the show was getting dragged into the unwanted controversy. This is when the team amicably decided that Navjot make a distance from the show. The team has already shot a couple of episodes with Archana.”

Earlier, Navjot Singh Sidhu, during a media interaction spoke about the attack and said, “Nations cannot be held responsible for the dastardly acts of terrorists. The terrorists do not have deen, mazhab (sect and religion). There are good, the bad and the ugly. Every institution has them. Every nation has them. The ugly need to be punished. But individuals cannot be blamed for the dastardly act.”
Sidhu’s comments were termed as anti-national by many and hence it received severe criticism and since then, social media has been flooded with posts demanding his exit from The Kapil Sharma Show. Fans have been demanding to throw him out of the show or they will boycott the show. In fact, #BoycottSidhu has been trending since last night.
Talking about the issues, one of the sources of Times Now said, “The episodes weren’t shot keeping this incident in mind but now the channel will be taking her on board fully. Some communication and closures need to happen and will then be finalized.”

This is not the first time that Sony TV has taken a stand over a controversy. After Anu Malik was named in the MeToo campaign, he was sacked overnight as a judge from Indian Idol 10.
Interestingly, Archana Puran Singh had also replaced Navjot Singh Sidhu in The Kapil Sharma Show in 2017 after the latter had fallen ill.
