In the ongoing four-match Test series between India and Australia, the momentum is definitely with the hosts, especially after the series-leveling win in the second Test in Perth, but former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly on Friday said India can still win the high-intensity series.
In the second Test of the series, India suffered a 146-run defeat against Australia in Perth. The four-match series is now level at 1-1 ahead of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. During a promotional event in Kolkata, Sourav said, “India can still win, it depends on how they play. All in the playing eleven have to take up responsibility. Everybody has to play well.”
The first Test at Adelaide ended in an ecstatic fashion, with India registering a historic win. The hosts Australia were threatening to chase down a daunting target of 323 successfully after being seven down for 187. However, they lost by a relatively narrow margin of 31 runs.

Even Sourav also expressed his thoughts on the series on Twitter, he wrote, “Lots of talk going around in media specially Australian .. watch out for india against this australia ..still two tests to go and india can win both.. don’t go too far ahead everyone @bcci”.

India’s batting, barring the duo of the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara, has been scrutinized and Ganguly urged the middle-order to take up more responsibility. While interacting with students, Ganguly was asked what was the difference between now and his childhood days and the cricketer-turned-administrator said: “When I was a child, my father used to earn, I would spend a good time. Now I’ve to earn.”
The third Test of the series is scheduled to commence on December 26 and will be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
