Recalling an unforgettable instance, Ganguly revealed that he once disguised himself as a Sikh to attend the grand Durga Puja immersion ceremony in Kolkata. With massive crowds and the frenzy surrounding the festival, it was nearly impossible for someone of Ganguly’s stature to enjoy the celebration unnoticed.

To slip under the radar, he donned a turban and beard, hoping his transformation would keep him incognito. But his little social experiment had a twist.

“It was a bit of a challenge with my daughter,” Sourav Ganguly laughed. “I told her, if I dress as a Sardar, no one will recognize me. She was confident they still would.” As fate would have it, the moment he stepped into the car, a police officer recognized him instantly. “He said, ‘No matter what you do, people will still know who you are,’” Ganguly chuckled.

Trying to maintain the act, he instructed his wife to remain silent, but her offhand compliment—“This look suits you”—alerted a bystander, who quickly caught on. “My daughter couldn’t stop laughing,” Ganguly added with a smile, clearly enjoying the memory.
