Sourav Ganguly supports MS Dhoni in the no-ball controversy

MS Dhoni’s behaviour on the no-ball controversy made everyone surprised but his former teammate Sourav Ganguly has supported him, saying “everyone is human”. The incident happened during the game between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. To bat first, Rajasthan managed to put up 151 on board. Chasing 152, Chennai lost four wickets in quick succession. However, Chennai captain MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu steadied the ship with 95 runs. They were needed 18 runs off the final over when Ben Stokes came to bowl.

Ben Stokes dismissed Dhoni in the third delivery and the fourth delivery brought a controversy at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Thursday night. It was a waist-high ball which on-field umpire gave no-ball earlier but leg-umpire declared the delivery as a normal one.

That incident made Dhoni furious who was near the boundary line. He suddenly entered into the field and started arguing with the umpires which was against his nature. However, the ball declared as a normal delivery and a final ball six from Mitchelle Santner guided Chennai to a nail-biting win by four wickets.

Meanwhile, Dhoni’s action was not welcomed by the likes of Michael Vaughan who said that MS Dhoni setting a “terrible example” but former India captain and Dhoni’s teammate Sourav Ganguly came to his defence, saying “everyone is human”.

“Everyone’s human. What stands out for me is his competitiveness, which is remarkable,” said Delhi Capitals’ advisor Sourav Ganguly after Delhi’s seven-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Friday.

With this win, MS Dhoni became the first captain to win 100 matches in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL). Gautam Gambhir is the second player in the list who won 29 less matches than MS Dhoni.
