Sourav Ganguly Terms Rishabh Pant As The Match-winner For India

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly was in awe of ‘match winner’ Rishabh Pant after the Indian wicket-keeper batsman churned out a flamboyant knock of 101 to put India in charge of the fourth and final Test against England in Ahmedabad on Friday. Ganguly was seen showering prases on the youngster for his ‘unbelievable’ knock under pressure against England and said that the Indian wicketkeeper will be an all-time great in all formats in the years to come.

Tweeting about Rishabh Pant, Sourav Ganguly said, “How good is he? Unbelievable..what a knock under pressure…not the first time and won’t be the last time..will be an all-time great in all formats in the years to come. keep batting in this aggressive manner .thats why will be match-winner and special.”

Pant walked in to bat at No.5 after the dismissal of Ajinkya Rahane when the hosts were reeling at 80 for 4. Pant as he said ‘was given the license to bat freely’ and the flamboyant southpaw did not disappoint with his elegant strokeplay.

Rishabh Pant started his innings cautiously but accelerated spectacularly, especially after England took the second new ball. He was at his ferocious best, thrashing the England bowlers on his whims and fancies.

Pant had smashed a four off James Anderson in the 83rd over to help India cross the mark and in the very next over, he hit Joe Root for a six to reach his century. Pant’s century came off just 115 balls and was studded with 13 fours and two sixes.

Pant’s century-plus partnership with Washington Sundar tilted the game in favor of the hosts who finished day two on 294-7. Sundar was batting on 60 and Axar Patel was on 11 with India 89 ahead of England at stumps on Day 2 of the series-finale in Ahmedabad.
