Former India skipper and the president of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), Sourav Ganguly inspected the pitch that will be used for the play in the first Test of the 3-match series between India and Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. He suggested that the strip will produce a good contest.
Talking to the reporters, the CAB president said, “It will be a good wicket.” He later added that playing is always more difficult compared to administration.
During the promotional even attended by India’s first world-cup winning skipper, Kapil Dev, Ganguly said, “Here you miss and you get out, in every other thing you get a second chance. As a player you don’t… Playing is always difficult there’s no retake for a player.”
Kapil also recalled sacking from the Indian team in the fourth Test against England at the Eden Gardens in December 1984. He said, “I was not in Kolkata, I was back in Delhi as I was out of the team enjoying a six-day holiday given to me by the selectors.”
