The high-profile clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals was seeing as the battle between Steve Smith and David Warner, who became eligible to play international cricket today. Rajasthan scored a mammoth total of 198/2 in 20 overs after winning the toss. Captain Ajinkya Rahane scored a well-paced 70 runs in 49 balls while Sanju Samson (102*) was the destructor with his second IPL ton.

In response, Hyderabad got off to a flier. Thanks to David Warner and Jonny Bairstow, who shared a match-defining 110-run partnership for the first wicket. Once Warner got out, Vijay Shankar up the ante with his blazing 35 runs in 15 balls. SRH reached to home safely by five wickets with one over to spare.

David Warner (SRH)

Explosive Australian opener continued his good form with the bat and scored his second consecutive fifty in the IPL. Chasing a big total of 199, he gave SRH a stunning start and scored his 50 runs in the mandatory powerplay. It was his innings which took Hyderabad’s total to 69/0 in the first six overs. He shared 110-run partnership for the opening wicket with Jonny Bairstow. Warner fell after scoring 69 runs in 37 balls, where he hit nine fours and two sixes.

Sanju Samson (RR)

Dashing batsman came to bat at number three after the dismissal of Jos Buttler. Samson took his time and formed a solid partnership with his skipper Ajinkya Rahane. They scored 119 runs for the second wicket and targeted every bowler in the process. Samson turned his beast mode on at the death overs and smashed 24 runs off one Bhuvneshwar Kumar over. He notched up the first ton of IPL 2019 in style and finished his innings for 102 off 55 including ten fours and four sixes.

Shreyas Gopal (RR)

Rajasthan Royals was looking in tatters when Sunrisers Hyderabad got off to an explosive start. They were leaking boundaries in every over and match was going away from them. No other bowler looked threatening apart from Shreyas Gopar, who crumbled Hyderabad’s middle-order and took three wickets in no time. He dismissed Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey and Vijay Shankar, but this was not enough for Rajasthan to win the game. Gopal finished the match with figures of 4-0-27-3.
