The Asia Cup 2022 will be hosted by Sri Lanka between 27 August and 11 September. In such a situation, there is going to be a highly-anticipated game between India and Pakistan. This time the tournament will be played in the T20 format and the qualifiers will be played from 20 August 2022. Team India is the most successful team in the history of the Asia Cup.

Since the inaugural edition of the tournament which was playing in 1984, India has won the title seven times. The Indian team has been champion in 1984, 1988, 1990-91, 1995, 2010, 2016, and 2018. On the other hand, Sri Lanka is at number two with five title victories. Sri Lanka won the title in 1986, 1997, 2004, 2008, and 2014.

Pakistan won the tournament only twice once in 2000 and the other time in 2012. Sri Lanka has participated 14 times in the history of the Asia Cup. It is followed by India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh who have played this tournament 13 times.

There will be six teams in the Asia Cup 2022, which includes India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and a qualifier. The qualifier match will be played between UAE, Kuwait Singapore, and Hong Kong.

The Asia Cup 2022 (T20 Format) will be held in Sri Lanka from 27 August – 11 September later this year. The Qualifiers for the same will be played 20 August 2022 onwards.

Although the Asia Cup cricket is held every two years, the 2020 edition was canceled by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The ACC wanted to organize the tournament to be played in Sri Lanka in June 2021, but the pandemic spoiled the plans of the organizers.

Meanwhile, the tenure of BCCI Secretary Jay Shah as the President of the Asian Cricket Council has been unanimously extended by one year. The decision was taken at ACC’s AGM in Colombo on Saturday.
