The Sri Lankan commentator Roshan Abeysinghe has reached the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the coverage of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022. He took to his Twitter handle and wrote that Virat Kohli has been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a wrist injury and the youngster Shubman Gill will be replacing the batting stalwart.

The fans were left dismayed after hearing the news as they want their favorite batsman to be a part of such a big tournament. However, the commentator has now apologized for his tweet which turned out to be false.

The Sri Lankan commentator took to his Twitter handle today morning and apologized to the fans that the news of Virat Kohli’s injury is fake. The tweet was deleted by the commentator and the fans were relieved to know that Kohli is indeed going to play in the Asia Cup 2022. In his apology tweet, Roshan wrote: “Sorry Virat’s news is fake. The tweet has been deleted.”

Team India will be locking horns with the arch-rivals Pakistan in their opening match of the Asia Cup 2022, which is going to be played on Sunday in Dubai International Cricket Stadium. If Kohli is the part of Playing XI in the match, the game against Pakistan will be Virat’s 100th International T20I match and it will be a great achievement for the batsman who has served the Indian team for over a decade.
