Australian spearhead Mitchell Starc was expected to fill Mitchell Johnson’s shoes for this Ashes series Down Under. However, those big shoes are hard to fill but Starc is trying his level best to bring the urn back to Australia.

After an interesting Adelaide Test, he expressed his thoughts on bowling department while admitting that there is still scope for improvement. “I think the exciting thing is our bowling group can only get better. Obviously we’ve taken 40 wickets over the last couple of weeks and done some really good things but there’s still room for improvement,” said Starc.

Nathan Lyon bowled beautifully in the first two games and became Test’s leading wicket-taker in 2017.

Starc praised Lyon and added “Gazza’s (Lyon) bowling the house down at the moment and that allows the other three of us to just do what we do at the other end. Josh does what he does and allows Pat and I to bowl as fast as we want.”

The third Test will undergo from December 14 at Perth. The southpaw hoped for a good bouncy bowling track at the WACA. “Hopefully we see a nice fast, bouncy wicket, the WACA of old, and get stuck into that as a bowling group,” he concluded.

Australia is leading the five-match Ashes series by 2-0 after winning a tight encounter in Adelaide. Now they will try to seal the deal in Perth before heading to MCG and SCG.
