Virat Kohli is at its peak in International cricket since the start of 2016 and this purple patch seems never-ending. Now, his every run is breaching old records and rewriting some new in the history of this game. In the ongoing Delhi Test, he scored his sixth double hundred against Sri Lanka, which takes him over several greats of this game.

Here are the records; he broke/enter today;

  1. He holds the record for most double centuries for India in Test along with Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag.
  2. He became the first player to hit 3 double centuries in a calendar year twice.
  3. 6 double hundreds as a captain is now a new record. Earlier, Kohli was sharing this record with Brian Lara, who managed 5 such scores while leading the side.
  4. He is the sixth player ever to score two consecutive double hundreds in two innings after Wally Hammond, Vinod Kambli, Don Bradman, Kumar Sangakkara and Michael Clarke.
  5. 243 are the highest individual score by an Indian captain in Test cricket. Also, this is his highest score as well.
  6. Kohli is the only captain ever to score three centuries in each of a three-match Test series.
