The Sheffield Shield match between New South Wales and Victoria saw a funny and comedy dismissal of Steve O’Keefe the last man for NSW who came to bat along with a runner as he was carrying a hamstring injury.

As he played the ball from Scott Boland towards long-on cover he ran to take a single where he did not realize he had already brought Nick Larkin as his runner and both ran towards the non-striker end, it was after reaching the crease he saw Larkin running and then realised and immediately ran back to the crease but before he could make his way back to the crease the throw from Holland was already made and he was run out as Sebastian Gotch moved the off-stump.

“His hamstring can’t be that bad as well,” the commentator said. “Because if it was that bad you’d know as soon as you took off that you shouldn’t be running.”

Here is the clip of the dramatic run-out which ended NSW’s innings.

O’Keefe’s dismissal meant the end of the innings for New South Wales where they were leading with 29 runs ahead and the total they were all-out was for 135. Victoria had posted 106 in their first innings where left-handed batsman Nic Maddinson was their highest run-scorer as he made 24 runs.

Peter Nevil the skipper for NSW was their top-run scorer as he remained unbeaten on 33 which helped his side to boost the lead. In reply, Victoria also came back as Matthew Short made his half-century, meanwhile, Nic Maddinson continued his support, at the end of Day 2 Victoria’s scoreboard looked like 159-7 and were ahead with the 130 runs lead ahead and James Pattinson and Peter Siddle are batting with the scores of 12 and 1 respectively.

O’Keefe would still be wondering why he ran for that or was he unconscious.
