Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming appeared unfazed when asked about a recent video on Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube channel where the panelists allegedly criticized the CSK team. Ashwin, though currently playing for Rajasthan Royals, has strong Chennai roots, and the association sparked interest among fans. However, Fleming made it clear that he neither knew Ashwin had a channel nor pays attention to such external commentary.

“Mate, I have no idea. I didn’t even know he had a channel. I don’t follow that stuff. It’s irrelevant. You guys are important,” Stephen Fleming said during the post-match press conference, brushing off the controversy with a smile.
The question arose after Chennai Super Kings suffered their third straight defeat in IPL 2025 — this time a 25-run loss to Delhi Capitals at Chepauk, their second loss at home. Once considered fortress-like, Chepauk hasn’t been kind to the Super Kings this season.

One of the biggest concerns remains CSK’s inability to chase targets above 175 — a trend that dates back over four seasons. On Saturday, Vijay Shankar’s fighting 69* and MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 30 weren’t enough to get the team over the line.

Stephen Fleming admitted that the team is still figuring out the right formula to chase effectively. “We’re certainly aware of that stat,” he said. “We’re trying to restrict teams below that score with the ball, but we also need to bat better.”

He emphasized the importance of top-order contributions, noting that teams performing well in the tournament are relying heavily on runs from their top three or four batters. “If they produce more, it allows the power-hitters to come in at the right moments,” he added.
Skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad also voiced concern about CSK’s powerplay struggles, pointing out the team’s tentative approach in both batting and bowling during the first six overs.
