Australian captain Steve Smith will not be playing the T20I series against India, which is scheduled to start on Saturday, in Ranchi. As per the reports in Cricket.com.au, Smith will go back to Australia as he is suffering from a sore shoulder, which he aggravated in a training session onFridon Friday evening.

Imediately, Smith did some MRI Scans, and it has been confirmed that supporting staff has asked him to head home. It’s an unfortunate setback for the Australians as the Ashes series is less than two months away.

Team Doctor, Richard Saw, in a press said, “He has had an MRI scan which has excluded serious injury, but we believe the best course of action is for him to not continue to aggravate his shoulder and allow it to recover. He will have further investigation upon his return to Australia but we remain confident he will be available for the start of the Sheffield Shield season.”

However, Cricket Australia has named Marcus Stoinis as his Steve Smith’s replacement for the 3 match T20I series against India.
