The Australian crowd always plays the role of 12th man in the Ashes series and they are doing the same job again by booing Stuart Broad constantly. During the first day of the second Test, Broad, again, was at the receiving end but this time he gives it back to them with the ‘I can’t hear’ act.

This act gave nostalgia of Kevin Pietersen, who did the same during last Ashes series Down Under. In 2013-14 series, Mitchell Johnson was at his peak and bowling furiously throughout the series. When both teams turned to MCG, Pietersen backed out when Mitch was in his bowling stride. In response, Johnson threw the ball wide and went to batsman straight away for a verbal war.

When crowd gave back to former England skipper, he poked fingers in his ears and acted ‘I can’t hear’.

The same incident happened during Adelaide Test when crowd hit at Broad, but he was ready to stun the crowd and stop the voices to enter in his ears. See the video here;

England is bowling first after winning the toss. This decision raised some eyebrows until they get a lucky breakthrough in a form of run out. Afterwards, they kept things tight without leaking runs and the crucial moment came with Steve Smith’s wicket, who was undone by debutant Craig Overton. Australia ended day one at 209/4 while Peter Handscomb and Shaun Marsh came as overnight batsmen.
