Team India is currently enjoying their purple patch in international cricket as they completed the dominated the home season, beating every formidable opponent across all the formats. On Wednesday, India equaled the record 9 consecutive Test series triumphs after playing out a draw against Sri Lanka at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli scripted history by becoming the fastest to hit six double centuries and the first skipper to score past the 100 run mark in three consecutive Tests. With Virat leading from the front, there has been a drastic improvement in the fielding standards of the team. In fact, fitness is laying a crucial role in India’s every series win. Although former cricketers have applauded Kohli for introducing a new culture in the team, there is still more work to be done.

While the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Wriddhiman Saha (wk) and Kohli himself are at par with the best fielders in the world, the team does have a couple of slow movers in the field as well. Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar pointed out two such players during commentary on the final day of the third Test between India and Sri Lanka.

While Cheteshwar Pujara was fielding at the boundary, Gavaskar said, “He looks like a car that runs with a handbrake on.”

However, the legendary opening batsman also added Ravichandran Ashwin to the same category. He said, “There’s intent but not much progress.”
