Following the Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR)’s dominating win over the . Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), fans have been complaining about Sunil Narine and his delivery that got him the wicket of Virat Kohli. In the 9th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, KKR hosted RCB back again at the Eden Gardens on Thursday.

After being asked to bat first after losing the toss, KKR managed to reach a commendable score of 204 runs. KKR was in a rather terrible position having lost 5 wickets for just 89 runs. But then, Shardul Thakur displayed his fiery hitting as he scored 67 runs in just 29, reaching the joint-fastest fifty in just 20 balls in IPL 2023, and was very well supported by Rinku Singh.

As a result, KKR recovered well and managed to reach a target that eventually proved too much for the Bangalore side. Despite getting off to a good, scoring over 40 runs in 4 overs, RCB crumbled in a matter of over owing to the brilliant bowling from the KKR’s spin trio of Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Suyash Sharma. It was Sunil Narine who drew the first blood as he bowled Virat Kohli with a fantastic ball that Kohli failed to read at all.

Here is the video of the delivery from Sunil Narine:

Sunil Narine has been susceptible to illegal bowling action before as well when the player was banned from playing cricket for some time because of that. He then reworked his action and got approval from the ICC after the bowling Test and was allowed to play thereafter.

Despite all the controversy, it was certainly one of the worst performances from the RCB side. Fans were not happy with Michael Bracewell being promoted to 3rd in the batting order followed by Harshal Patel being promoted to no.5 in the batting order.

RCB was set for a less than 100 runs total until the last duo of David Willey and Akash Deep added a partnership of 27 runs for the last wicket. RCB will next play at home against Lucknow Super Giants on the 10th of April.
