Kolkata Knight Riders produced a clinical bowling performance against Mumbai Indians in Match 65 of IPL 2026 at Eden Gardens, with Sunil Narine delivering yet another masterclass under pressure. In a must-win clash for KKR’s playoff hopes, the veteran spinner completely outfoxed MI captain Hardik Pandya to leave the visitors struggling badly in Kolkata.

After winning the toss, Ajinkya Rahane elected to bowl first on a surface that offered assistance to both seamers and spinners following pre-match rain. The decision paid immediate dividends as KKR’s bowling attack never allowed Mumbai Indians to settle at any stage of the innings.

Ryan Rickelton was the first to depart after Cameron Green dismissed the opener for just six runs. Green struck again in the same over to remove Naman Dhir for a duck, putting MI under massive early pressure. Rohit Sharma also failed to convert his start and was dismissed for 15, while Suryakumar Yadav, who looked dangerous briefly, was cleaned up by Saurabh Dubey.

With wickets falling regularly, the responsibility shifted onto Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma to rebuild the innings. However, KKR’s disciplined bowling and the slow Eden Gardens pitch made scoring extremely difficult. Tilak struggled throughout his innings, managing only 20 runs from 32 deliveries in one of the slowest knocks of IPL 2026.

Hardik Pandya also found it tough to counter Sunil Narine’s variations. The defining moment came in the 15th over when Narine produced another magical delivery to cast the MI skipper. Bowling from around the wicket, the mystery spinner fired one in sharply as the ball stayed slightly low. Hardik attempted a late cut shot but completely missed it, watching his stumps get shattered.

The dismissal reduced the Mumbai Indians to 95/6 and firmly tilted the contest in KKR’s favour. Hardik’s disappointing innings ended at 26 runs from 27 balls, including just two boundaries and one six.

Despite the collapse, Corbin Bosch played a valuable late cameo of 32 off 18 balls to help the Mumbai Indians reach 147/8 in their 20 overs — a total that looked below par considering the batting-friendly reputation of Eden Gardens.

KKR’s bowlers shared the spoils brilliantly. Cameron Green, Saurabh Dubey and Kartik Tyagi picked up two wickets each, while Sunil Narine once again proved why he remains one of the most dangerous T20 spinners in world cricket. With the playoff race heating up, KKR delivered exactly the kind of dominant performance they desperately needed.
