Sunrisers Hyderabad has named Kane Williamson their skipper for the IPL 2019 season. He was the captain in the last season as well as the former captain David Warner was banned for 12-months by Cricket Australia due to the ball-tampering scandal. However, he was banned from all the international cricket and was allowed to play the domestic games including IPL. But BCCI didn’t give permission to play so he missed the last season of the IPL.
Kane Williamson, who led New Zealand in all formats of the game, also led SRH last year and took the team to the finals of the tournament. He was also the highest run-getter in the tournament and won the Orange Cap as well. However, they lost to CSK in the finals and CSK won their third IPL title. Meanwhile, Hyderabad decided to continue this season with Kane Williamson as the captain.

However, Williamson has recently suffered a shoulder injury and underwent scans and some medicals tests ahead of his joining the team for the season. He might be unavailable for the first couple of games due to his injury and that is why the team management has named his deputy.
India’s pace spearhead Bhuvneshwar Kumar who had played for the Hyderabad since 2014. He is named as the deputy of Kane Williamson in the pre-tournament photo shoot. Where the other IPL captains were present, on the eve of the 2019 IPL season opener. Bhuvneswar Kumar will lead the side in the absence of Kane Williamson if needed.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin their campaign of the 12th edition of IPL against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 24 and if Williamson will miss the match, the fans might see Bhuvneshwar Kumar leading the Sunrisers Hyderabad against Kolkata Knight Riders. However, David Warner’s inclusion in the squad will boost them and it will be interesting to see how he performs after coming back to the game.
