After missing the previous edition of the Indian Premier League, Suresh Raina is back in his familiar yellow outfit. Chennai Super Kings missed his services dearly, last year when they failed to make it to the playoffs for the first time in the tournament’s history. However, the team has made a few changes in their line up and playing well so far in the league this year.

Suresh Raina called time on his international cricket after the retirement of MS Dhoni on 15 August last year. He represented India in 226 ODIs along with 18 Test matches and 78 T20Is in a career that spanned over 13 years. Raina was in the Indian team when they lift the World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013.

As he will be having a big chunk of his time away from the game, Raina is looking to make a career in the Indian film industry. He revealed this desire of his on Twitter where a fan appreciated his acting skills and asked him to do Bollywood films. To which, he replied, “After IPL for sure bro.”

Suresh Raina is known as Mr IPL, having first played for Chennai Super Kings in 2008 and then captaining Gujarat Lions in IPL 2016 and 2017, before returning to the yellow brigade in IPL 2018. He has helped CSK in winning three IPL titles, making them one of the most successful franchises in the league.

A controversy occurred after it was announced that Suresh Raina returned from the UAE before the IPL 2020 began because he was dissatisfied with his hotel room, which was not the same as captain MS Dhoni’s. The cricketer cited personal reasons for his departure from the UAE, citing the fact that 13 CSK players and officials had contracted the virus, and he was worried about his family back home.
