The Indian batsmen Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw have finally left for Nottingham to join the Indian Test squad ahead of the five-match series against England scheduled to be commencing on August 4 at Trent Bridge. Both Suryakumar and Prithvi were have successfully completed their quarantine in Colombo with 7 other Indian cricketers from their limited-overs squad which recently took on Sri Lanka in a T20I series.
Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Ishan Kishan, Krishnappa Gowtham, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Deepak Chahar were the 8 players who came in close contacts of Krunal Pandya, who tested positive for coronavirus late last month and missed the last couple of T20Is as a result.

The rest of the Indian limited-overs squad returned home on July 30 while the 9 players were required to complete their quarantine period in Colombo. Suryalumar Yadav took to social media to inform his fans about his departure from Colombo along with Shaw. Posting the picture while boarding the aircraft, Suryakumar Yadav wrote: “Counting my blessings. Next stop, England!”

Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw were asked to join the Indian Test team in the UK after the Sri Lanka tour and will be available for selection from the third Test as they are required to undergo the mandatory isolation of 10 days in the United Kingdom. Surya and Shaw were named as replacements following injuries to Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Avesh Khan in the build-up to the Test series.

India suffered another injury blow on Monday when opener Mayank Agarwal was concussed after suffering a huge blow on his head during a net session and was subsequently ruled out of the series opener at Trent Bridge.
Mayank Agarwal, who has so far played 14 Test matches for the Indian team, showed signs of concussion after getting hit on the helmet while practicing in the nets. Agarwal was assessed by the BCCI medical team and a concussion test was conducted.
