The young Indian opener, Prithvi Shaw middle-order batsman Suryakumar Yadav and off-spinner Jayant Yadav will be expected to fly to the UK as replacements for the injured Indian players. The Indian team management requested a couple of openers and one off-spinner as replacements for the three injured players. The five-match Test series against England is scheduled to commence on the 4th of August in Nottingham.

The three injured players from the contingent are Shubman Gill, Avesh Khan, and Washington Sundar. Sundar and Khan sustained a finger injury while playing for the County Select XI against India in the practice game in Durham. Both of them played for the County Select XI as ECB requested reinforcements.

Informing the same, BCCI official said, “Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Jayant Yadav will be flying to England – they might leave just after the T20 series but we will get a confirmation in another 3 days”.

Meanwhile, India’s Test deputy skipper, Ajinkya Rahane is reportedly carrying a hamstring issue, which is the reason the tourists requested Suryakumar Yadav. The men in blue did not ask for a like-for-like replacement for the injured Avesh Khan as they felt there are enough fast bowlers in the party.

Meanwhile, Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav have shown tremendous performances in Sri Lanka, where they played an integral role in the ODI series victory. As for Jayant Yadav, he is currently in India and the all-rounder played the last of his four Tests back in 2017.
