T20 WC: Mujeeb Ur Rahman Hints Making Comeback Against New Zealand

Afghanistan’s mystery spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman gave a hint that he might be fit to play for his team’s last league match of the T20 World Cup 2021 against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi. Mujeeb injured his finger during the tournament and he missed the last two matches owing to the same injury.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman bagged a five-fer against Scotland

Mujeeb started the tournament with a bang when he picked up a sensational five-wicket haul against Scotland in Sharjah. Scotland got all-out for 60 as Afghanistan won the match by a whopping margin of 130 runs.

Mujeeb played against Pakistan in the next match and conceded just 14 runs in his four overs while dismissing Mohammad Rizwan during his spell. However, he injured his finger during the same game and missed the next two matches against Namibia and India.

Meanwhile, he gave a hint that he may play against New Zealand on Sunday in his recent post on Twitter. He shared a video of himself, where he was seen spending time in the gym. His caption reads, “back to gym mood happy.”

Afghanistan will play against New Zealand in their final league match of the tournament. This game will be a do-or-die affair for both of the teams. If New Zealand win they will go through to the semi-finals. However, if Afghanistan win, they will do a big favour to Team India, who will fancy their chances to qualify.

Afghanistan can also qualify if they win by a big margin against New Zealand and India don’t catch them on the net run rate.

Team India will play the last league match of the tournament when they will come up against Namibia on November 8 in Dubai.
