India and Scotland are playing in a Super 12 round match of the T20 World Cup 2021 in Dubai. India registered their first win of the tournament against Afghanistan in their previous game while Scotland are yet to win a game in Super 12 round.
Virat Kohli finally won a toss and elected to bowl first. India brought Varun Chakaravarthy in place of Shardul Thakur while Scotland named an unchanged playing XI.

India got off to a good start with the ball as Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Scottish skipper Kyle Coetzer for 1. Mohammad Shami, then, removed dangerous-looking George Munsey for 24. Scotland were 27/2 after the powerplay.
Virat Kohli tossed the ball to Ravindra Jadeja for the seventh over. The Indian all-rounder changed the game by taking two wickets in the same over to further deteriorate Scotland’s condition. Jadeja removed in-form Michael Leask as well in the same spell before Ravichandran Ashwin joined the party by dismissing Chris Greaves.
Mohammed Shami, then, bowled an excellent 17th over. He removed Calum MacLeod’s stumps on the first ball with a pin-perfect yorker. On the next ball, Safyaan Sharif ran for a non-existent single and got run out. Shami was breathing fire and rattled the stumps of Alasdair Evans on the third ball to sink Scotland to 81/9. Jasprit Bumrah finished the formalities by taking out the last wicket as Scotland got all-out for 85.
India needed to win the match within 7.1 overs to leapfrog both Afghanistan and New Zealand on net run-rate.
The Indian openers came out with this in mind and went berserk from the word go. Both KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma were batting aggressively and scored 70 runs for the first wicket within five overs. Rohit got out for 30 runs in 15 balls, which featured five fours and one six. KL Rahul wasn’t going to stop there and notched up his fifty in just 18 balls. He got out after scoring 50 runs in 19 balls, where he hit six fours and three sixes.

What a hammering. India had to win big and they have. Keeps them afloat. Have to do it again vs Namibia, if AFG doesn't beat NZ, they don't go through but it's not in your hands. Do what you can best. A near-perfect day for them today. pic.twitter.com/QUNucquUu8

Completely dominant performance by India. Brilliant with the ball, and got the chase over and one with in quick time. to boost their net run rate. They have done what they had to, all eyes on Afghanistan-New Zealand now. #INDvSCO #T20WorldCup

The equation for semi-final place is simple:
If NZ beat Afg, India are out.If Afg score 150 & beat NZ by….
1 run (India need to just beat Namibia)
10 runs (India need to win by ~3 runs)
20 runs (by ~12 runs)
30 runs (by ~22 runs)
50 runs (by ~40 runs)#T20WorldCup21 #INDvsSCO— Rajneesh Gupta (@rgcricket) November 5, 2021
Very well played India #T20WorldCup but 😊…. Over to you Afghanistan

Not such tough opponent, but India’s strong intent, with and bat and ball was worth watching. Twin objectives of winning match as well as upping NRR substantially achieved. Now for Afghanistan to beat NZ

Here is my review of this lovely birthday gift that his team has given @imVkohli what a clinical win this was against Scotland. And the NRR problem is also sorted. Listen in. pic.twitter.com/Wygg2s4JPJ

India needed to chase the target down in 7.1 overs to take their NRR above that of Afghanistan and New Zealand. They have done that in 6.3 overs. Everything for the Indian fans depends on one match now!#INDvSCO | #T20WorldCup

#TeamIndia Looks like a completely different side when the most feared opening pair deliver performances like these. Just hoping for #AFG to beat #NZ 😜#INDvSCO #T20WorldCup
