South Africa has tightened the grip over Centurion Test match after reducing India to 35/3 at the end of day 4 after giving them a target of 287-run, which has never been achieved at this venue.
South Africa’s overnight batsmen started the day positively and Dean Elgar brought up his fifty. However, Mohammad Shami brought India back with his reverse swing which cost them three quick wickets of AB de Villiers, Elgar and Quinton de Kock.
On the other hand, skipper Faf du Plessis held one end while tail-enders were to helping him from the other end. Few handy contributions from bowlers took South African total to 258 all-out, where Shami had four wickets while Jasprit Bumrah managed three of those ten.
India team is on a mission to keep the series alive but the start doesn’t suggest that they will manage to do so. The visitors had to play 23 overs before the stumps, which brought the end of three important wickets including that one of Virat Kohli, who got an unplayable delivery. Murali Vijay and KL Rahul, too, couldn’t give India a desire start.
When umpire took the bails off from the stump, Cheteshwar Pujara and Parthiv Patel were batting in the middle while Rohit Sharma is the only other recognized batsman. India is still to score 252 runs while they have 7 wickets in their hand.
