Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) locked horns with each other in the latest fixture of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 where the former turned all the heads. Fans were in for a surprise when Hyderabad came out on the field with a completely different strategy that helped them to win their second game of the tournament. David Warner was seen warming the bench while Jason Roy stepped up on the top and brought all the magic for SRH.

Roy played a match-winning knock of 60 runs off 42 balls in the beginning and then, Kane Williamson joined the party when he added a terrific half-century from his end to lead SRH to a seven-wicket win. Now talking of the playoffs scenario, despite the fact that SRH is still sitting on the bottom of the points table, there is a scenario in which they can qualify to the playoffs stage.

Going by the Calculator, Deepu Narayanan (statsman) explained that if SRH manages to win their remaining four games and MI, RR, KKR, and PBKS win just one each, Williamson and his men will march to the playoffs stage. In this case, even NRR won’t come into play, and Hyderabad will walk clear cut to the top four. He tweeted, “Today’s win means SRH can qualify without even NRR coming into play, provided: #SRH win all their remaining 4 games #MI #RR #KKR #PBKS all win exactly one match each.”

Winning the toss, RR chose to bat first where their skipper Sanju Samson was the pick of the batsmen as he smashed 82 runs off 57 balls to push RR post 164 runs. However, all went in vain when Roy and Williamson showed enough intent to take the match away from Rajasthan. Roy was eventually declared as the player of the match.

After the game, Kane Williamson said, “It’s a good feeling, some real clarity in roles as well and it’s nice to be back to winning ways. There were a couple of periods of play that were quite significant and we closed nicely with the ball and to get off the start with the bat like that and it was never easy, had to weather some storms with the ball holding up.”
