Debutant fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has been impressive with the ball in hand during Centurion Test against India. He registered a 6-fer on his debut and became the second from his nation to do so against India after Lance Klusener. Ngidi feels that things changed quickly for him in the second innings, which helped his team to beat India by 135-run and seal the series by 2-0 with one match to go.

“The moment hasn’t really sunk in. I am very chuffed with my performance and I’m very happy at the moment. Been a quick turnaround for me. I was in good nick in franchise cricket. I came out here to try pretty much what I could do. The support was great on my home ground. It’s a great moment,” he said.

He caught a big fish before the stumps of day four in form of Indian Captain Virat Kohli, who got an unplayable delivery. Apart from him, he got KL Rahul in the last session of the penultimate day, which sent India on the back foot having 35/3 at the scoreboard.

“I tried to keep it simple: hang it outside off. There was a bit of movement off the deck and one nipped in and got the wicket. It wasn’t the fastest Centurion pitch,” added Ngidi.

“Adapting to conditions was important. We had to deal with the conditions we were given. We pretty much put them under pressure, tried to keep them quiet and that worked.”

The final Test of this three-match series will take place from January 24 in Johannesburg, where India will be fighting for their number one ranking and pride.
