Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) may have subtly confirmed a major setback in their IPL 2025 campaign. In a heartfelt social media post, the franchise shared a picture of Tim David with the caption, “This is a Tim David appreciation post!” — sparking speculation that the hard-hitting Australian might be ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to injury.

The speculation stems from David’s injury during RCB’s last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. While fielding near the boundary in the final over of SRH’s innings, David chased down a shot from Ishan Kishan that raced toward the fine leg fence. Although he managed to stop the ball, he appeared to injure himself in the process. Struggling to walk, David was soon escorted off the field and replaced by Jacob Bethell.

His discomfort was even more evident during RCB’s daunting chase of 232. Usually batting in the middle order, David was pushed down to number eight — an unusual move for such a key power-hitter. He faced just five deliveries, managed only a single run, and looked visibly hampered while batting. Given his condition and RCB’s subsequent appreciation post, many fans believe that David’s IPL 2025 journey may have come to a premature end.

Injuries have plagued RCB at the worst possible time. Captain Rajat Patidar continues to nurse a hand injury and didn’t take the field in the previous game. He also hasn’t resumed captaincy duties. Phil Salt, another crucial member of the squad, just made his comeback after recovering from an injury layoff.

Meanwhile, Devdutt Padikkal has already been ruled out of the season, with Mayank Agarwal brought in as his replacement. Pace spearhead Josh Hazlewood is still recovering from a shoulder injury and remains unavailable. With the playoff race heating up, RCB’s depth and resilience are being tested to the limit.

Losing Tim David — a proven match-winner — at this stage could be a huge blow to their title aspirations. Fans now wait for an official update from the franchise on his availability.
