It was the most recent successful ODI finish for the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni. Chasing down the 231-run target in the series-decider game, Dhoni joined the crease when India was battling on 59/2. Later, he added the 54-run partnership for the third wicket with the skipper Virat Kohli who lost his wicket at next.

Battling on 113/3, Dhoni provided another brilliant partnership with Kedar Jadhav to secure the series winning victory for the national side. Dhoni and Jadhav had an unbroken 121-run partnership for the fourth wicket to secure that victory. While Dhoni remained not out on 87 off 114 balls, Jadhav was not out on 61 off 57 balls and India chased that target successfully in 49.2 overs after losing three wickets.
