45* vs Sri Lanka at Port of Spain – 2013 tri-series final in West Indies

It was the final of 2013 tri-series in West Indies where India met Sri Lanka. Chasing down the 202 runs target, India was losing their wickets in regular intervals.  While the opener Rohit Sharma played the 58 runs knock, the top middle-order batsmen Dinesh Karthik (23) and Suresh Raina (32) failed to capitalise their starts for a long time.

India was once battling on 182/9 in 46.2 overs but MS Dhoni who was fighting on the crease for a long time secured that game dramatically in the end. With Ishant Sharma, Dhoni had an unbroken 21-run partnership for the last wicket that helped the team to win that crucial final game.

Once again, Dhoni’s powerful mindset beat the whole opponent. In the last over, India needed 15 runs to win and Dhoni was on the strike from the beginning while the Sri Lankan pacer Shaminda Eranga was on the duty in the last over. After a dot ball on the first delivery of that final over, Dhoni six, four and another six to snatch that game from Sri Lanka. The Indian skipper won the Player of the Match award for his remarkable knock of unbeaten 45 runs while India won that match by once wicket with 2 balls remaining and also won that tri-series.
